Oh, lasses walked on green meadows!
Oh, lasses plucked flowers from the grass!
Plucked flowers and wove wreaths,
Then cast those wreaths on the waters,
Casting a spell over them:
"May one who catch this wreath know me."

From over yonder a good lad on a black steed rode.
He tied his steed to a broom shrub.
He took the first step - the water is knee-high.
He took the second step - the water is waist-high.
He took the third step - and his hat floated up,
His beaver hat emerged from the water.
